However the main problem occurs when nail starts growing. You can continue with the old gel nail polish for some days but when the nail growth is enough to make your nails look odd then you need to repaint them. For repainting your nails you need to take off the older gel nail polish.

Generally the gel nail polish kits available at various cosmetic stores come with removal wipes but for those of you who don’t have the kit this task can be quite daunting. 

Here is the way which would help you on how to remove gel nail polish at home.

Things required

  • 10 pieces of foil which would easily cover your nails
  • 10 cotton balls
  • Orange wood stick
  • Gel remover
  • Cuticle oil
  • Hand cream


Step 1:
Dip the cotton ball in gel remover or acetone and place it on the nail bed.

Step 2:
Cover the nail with aluminum foil so as to avoid any leakage of gel remover.

Step 3:
Let this stand for 15 minutes.

Step 4:
Remove the foil and cotton.

Step 5:
The gel nail polish would appear to be crumpled up. Now with the help of an orange stick push any remaining gel on the nails.

If the gel is still there, repeat the whole process again.

Step 7:
Buff your nails with the buffer.

Step 8:
Massage the skin around the nail with cuticle cream and hand cream.
